Harold Dermott and his brother formed D&H Fibreglass Techniques (D&H) in 1975. Initially, the company continued producing the Mini Marcos design they had purchased, but ambitions were always to create their own vehicle.

In 1977 they formed a collaboration with Richard Oakes to design a new car. That car was to be called the Midas.
